Activated carbon has long been used as an adsorbent in the gold processing industry to recover gold from mining operations. Though coconut shell granular activated carbon (GAC) is the main product used for gold extraction, some clients will prefer our pellet activated carbon, which decreases the carbon wear rate.

HOW DOES THE ACTIVATION CARBON WORKS DURING THE GOLD CYANIDATION PROCESS? 

Activated carbon has become a standard in industry that is efficient to separate gold from cyanide leaching solutions through the three basic systems; 

Carbon in Pulp  

Carbon in pulp or CIP processing occurs when the ore is finely ground and the gold is soluble using a cyanide leach inside the tank and the activated carbon are added to the leached slurry and the activated carbon will adsorbs the gold from the slurry solution and then removed from the slurry by coarse screening. 

Carbon in Leach  

Carbon in leach or CIL process occurs when the activated carbon is added in leach, with gold adsorption occurring with gold dissolution by the cyanide solution. The activated carbon is added before any leaching occurs. 

Carbon in Column  

Carbon in Column or CIC is having a different process than the two previous methods. Pouring the gold cyanide solution into massive columns packed with activated carbon is occurs after the leaching process.
